2017 Programs

Note that we are using different venues for some of our programs this year.

Saturday, July 8 from 10 am to 4 pm – The Marigold Tea Room, our fundraiser at our museum during the Norway Arts Festival.  Rest your feet and enjoy a piece of homemade pie to benefit the society.

Tuesday, July 25 at 7:00 pm – The Norway Trolley Barn: Then & Now.  The history and repurposed use of this historic building, presented by Peter Hammond and Brenda Melhus.  This program will be at the Norway Grange Hall on Whitman Street and will be followed by a tour of the Norway Brewing Company, which now occupies the former trolley barn.

Tuesday, August 15 at 7:00 pm – The Silver Ball: 150th Anniversary.  Larry Glatz will provide a look at Maine’s baseball history, focusing on the Pennesseewassee’s (Norway’s team) win over Bowdoin College in 1867.  This program will be held at our museum.

Tuesday, September 19 at 7:00 pm – Remembering Norway Lake Village.  Marking the 100th anniversary of the first member of the Dullea family arriving at Norway Lake, join members of the Dullea family and other long-established families as they remember what life was like in this close-knit community in the early 1900s.  This program will be at our museum.

Saturday, September 30 - Third Annual Norway History Trolley Tour: Norway’s Rural Neighborhoods.  There will be four tours departing from our museum at 9:00 and 10:30 am, 12 noon and 1:30 pm.   A collaboration with the First Universalist Church of Norway, this year’s tour, led by Sue Denison, will visit two of Norway’s once-thriving rural neighborhoods to present their history.  Tickets will be $10 and will go on sale by the first of September.
