The first Methodist Church was built in 1838 in northwest Norway, giving the Chapel District its name.  This building was torn down in 1949.

In 1839, another Methodist Church was built in Norway village in the area where the hospital now stands.  This building was sold to the Congregationalists in 1845 and the Norway Methodists joined the South Paris congregation.
