John Alfred Roberts (1852-1920) is an important figure in Norway history, though he is virtually unknown today.  He served in the Maine House of Representatives and the Maine Senate, but his most important contribution to Norway is likely as a progressive farmer who promoted visionary farming practices.  He was the proprietor of Highland Farm, which stretched from the top of Pike’s Hill to the shore of Norway Lake.  The property is now maintained by the Western Foothills Land Trust as the Roberts Farm Preserve.
